What is the vision for this product and where is it bringing Google and the consumer? I have no idea. What's worse, this actually would seem to help one of their biggest competitors (Microsoft) in multiple ways. Strange indeed.
The intent by google is spitting in MS face
we are doing what you said isnt possible.
Google has linked a simple installer to install and update software automaically. (in the style Linux updaters are)
The essence Windows Update is to keep Software up2date, yea sure it does. Microsoft core products, Windows , office etc. Not even less common Microsoft products are supported by Windows Update.
Google Pack doesnt descriminate non Microsoft products like
adaware, Norton, Mozilla Firefox, Adobe acrobat.
it allows install and monitored updates.
Linux has no place for a Google Pack since it technically already has a google Pack style manager.
Yast2, URPMI, Portage. Unlike Windows Update dont desciminate.
they Will update Core system, all installed Software, plugins etc.
and Will allow install of any Software available.
